Bette Midler - “The Rose”

Best song in the history of songs? I think so.

I grew up on this shit because my mom’s a big Bette Midler fan, so of course there’s a special spot in my pop-lover’s heart for Bette Midler.

What’s really funny about this song is that many young people’s only point of reference for this song is the Happy Hands Club’s rendition of it in “Napoleon Dynamite.” Which was hilarious, so I’m totally OK with it.

But still… Isn’t it a fantastically awful love song? Combine it with “Wind Beneath My Wings” and you’ve got six minutes the gayest tear-jerkers ever.
