Britney Spears - “My Only Wish (This Year)”

I don’t know who decided that Britney Spears should sing a Christmas song… But I agree with them 100%. And what a shiny little gem this song is.

While most pop stars release their own versions of popular, worn-out Christmas songs and slap their names on them, Britney gave us an original track that has quickly become a holiday classic for awesomely bad pop fiends like you and I. It’s about longing for love during Christmas, and how many of us have been down that very road?

This is Christmas pop at its best, folks (with the exception, maybe, of Mariah’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You”).

Britney Spears - “Stronger”

I’m not sure if anyone’s keeping track, but I think that at this point, Britney’s covered pretty much every stripper tool available: pole-dancing, chair-dancing, trashy boyfriend-dating… vagina-flashing.

In all seriousness, though, this is one of her best videos (with the exception of the weird rotating room parts). It’s fierce, it’s dark, it’s shiny, it’s dramatic. And, once again, he’s drenched in rain. I don’t know about you, but rain-drenched Britney just might be my favorite Britney.

And to borrow a joke from Chelsea Handler — I like my Britney how I like my vaginal walls: strong.

Britney Spears - “Toxic”

For many people, this is their favorite Britney song/video. And it’s easy to see why — This is Britney at her best.

I mean, come on… Britney as a female assassin? Hot. Britney naked and covered in crystals? Hot. Britney with bright red hair on a motorcycle with Tyson Beckford? Hot. Everything about this video is hot, so it’s no wonder that some of her recent videos — like “Womanizer” and “Break the Ice” — have tried to capture again what made “Toxic” so great.

And it certainly helps that the song is insanely catchy, fun, and danceable (the girl won a Grammy for “Toxic,” for goodness’ sake), and even non-Britney fans can’t deny it’s magical pop power.

Britney Spears - “(You Drive Me) Crazy [Album Version]”

I’m so sorry to have missed Britney Friday yesterday that I’m giving all you lovely followers two Britney gems today.

So our first Britney track is the album version of “(You Drive Me) Crazy,” which is probably less popular, less well-known, and less-liked than the “Stop Remix” (the version used for the music video). But that doesn’t mean it’s not as good; I like it just as much as the “Stop Remix.”

It doesn’t matter how you mix it — “(You Drive Me) Crazy” is just an amazing song. That’s all there is to it :)

Britney Spears - “Overprotected (Darkchild Remix)”

Everyone knows this is the better version of the two “Overprotected” videos. The first version is boring and lame, and I’ll get around to posting it eventually, but today I felt like posting a video people might actually enjoy :)

This is pretty much the moment that Britney started rebelling against what people wanted and/or expected of her, and this video is (I believe) her first “fuck you!” video in a long line of videos directed at critics, haters, etc. (see “Everytime,” “My Prerogative,” “Do Somethin’,” “Piece of Me”).

P.S. How many of you wanted to dance in a super-stretch limo after watching this? And how sexy is the whole Don’t-Mind-Us-We’re-Just-Dancing-In-The-Rain sequence? Love it!

Britney Spears - “Chris Cox Megamix”

It wouldn’t be Friday without a little Britney to set the mood, and it wouldn’t be right to celebrate the release of her second greatest hits album, “The Singles Collection,” without a not to her past.

Enjoy this awesome video, which splices together some of Britney’s most memorable videos from the first half of her career (the audio version of this video appeared on her first greatest hits album).

I don’t know why, but I could watch/listen to this all day and not get tired of it. Maybe because it’s like the best of Britney condensed to four minutes, which is perfect for I’m feeling just a little too ADD.

Britney Spears - “Lucky”

Happy Britney Friday! This week’s installment features the classic Britney video “Lucky,” which I’m convinced that everyone loves (even non-Britney fans).

How can you not love this? There’s enough drama, glitter and sad looks to entice anyone, whether you like Britney or not, and you can’t deny the song’s magically catchy quality. Am I right, or am I right?

If it wasn’t clear that she was star before this video, it was certainly evident after.

“And the winner is… Lucky!”

Britney Spears - “3”

Holy crap… I think I’m gonna have a seizure. There’s so much going on in this video, and they cut back and forth so often, that my eyes can’t keep up.

But I know a couple things. First of all, Britney looks smokin’ hot. Decent hair, good makeup. And how about those sunglasses? Badass. Second of all, the dancing is hot. I think. I can’t really know for sure because of all the closeups and jump cuts, but I’m pretty sure she’s rockin’ it.

I’m pretty much loving how the end of the video is basically just a blur of bodies as the dancing and editing both pick up the speed. And I’m also loving the whole stylized feel of the video. Very nice.

I was hoping for something a little more controversial considering the video’s subject matter, but whatevs. I’ll take it :)
