Celine Dion - “Because You Loved Me”

I think Celine Dion is probably the definition of sappy, awful pop ballads.

And, like many of her love-centric numbers, this is one of those songs that completely throws out the notion of female empowerment and instead bases one’s entire worth on a man’s love. Think about it: “You were my strength when I was weak, You were my voice when I couldn’t speak, You were my eyes when I couldn’t see… I’m everything I am because you loved me.”

Pretty ridiculous, right? It’s, like, soooo post-feminism.
