“The Goonies” is an awesome movie — easily the best ’80s movie about kids on a treasure hunt — but this song is just plain awful. If it weren’t for the fact that it appeared in “The Goonies,” this turd wouldn’t even make an appearance on this blog.
But here it is… And you’ve got to love it at least a little bit for how incredibly awful it is (so awful, in fact, that even Lauper left it off her first greatest hits compilation).
If you’ve never heard this song or seen “The Goonies,” do yourself a favor right now and DOOO IT!

Honestly, what’s NOT bad about this video? Then again, that’s what makes it so fantastic — It has no redeeming qualities, except that it’s set to an awesomely bad song. Not gonna lie, I love this song, even if it’s still overplayed.
In my head, I imagine Cyndi Lauper and whoever’s singing the male part of this song standing under a full moon singing to each other from opposite ends of the country. With lots of fading transitions between scenes, and people’s faces superimposed over the moon.
So why do I love this turd so much?
