Gwen Stefani - “Rich Girl”

Would someone please tell Gwen that she is a rich girl? Why in the name of all that is holy would a rich motherfucker like Gwen Stefani sing about what she would do if she were rich?

And why is she sampling a song from “Fiddler on the Roof?” Is she Jewish? I’m just all kinds of confused by this song. I’m even more confused by the video, which features a pirate theme, of all things. If anything, a “Fiddler on the Roof” theme would make more sense. Or, I don’t know, a theme that was somehow related to poverty. But noooooo…

Good thing the song’s so catchy and irresistible… Otherwise I would hate it a lot more than I do :)

And thus it began; Gwen Stefani’s legendary status as the most annoying pop star ever. Sure, her songs are catchy and maybe a little clever, but they’re also really annoying and pointless. Which is why I love them, of course :)

But honestly, I’m not the hugest fan of this song/video. My favorite part is when she spells out banana. I’m not sure why it’s necessary, but I know I love it. Everything else — especially what she’s wearing — is straight-up ridiculous.

I sincerely hope I don’t have to explain to you why this video is simultaneously the most amazing and most retarded thing ever made.
