Journey - “Don’t Stop Believin’”

Just do me a favor for a second and stop to listen to the words of this song. I don’t think it’s possible to have lyrics that are more depressing (or ’80s-tastic) than that. Yet somehow it’s supposed to be uplifting. Chyeah. OK.

Doesn’t matter, though, because I still love it. In an oh-my-god-this-song-is-so-cheesy-and-’80s-tastic-and-I’m-so-glad-it’s-not-the-’80s-anymore kind of way.

Nevertheless, I think the greatest thing about this song is that, in spite of all its awfulness, it still manages to experience a resurgence of popularity every couple years. The “Sopranos” finale shot it to the top of the iTunes charts, and the “Glee” pilot made it cool for a new generation.
