Oh, Lady Gaga… How appropriate that her most ’80s-sounding single is also her most ’80s-looking music video.
It’s like a cross between Ingmar Bergman’s “The Seventh Seal,” Madonna’s video for “Like a Prayer” and that creepy Apple ad from the ’80s.
That might sound like an amazing combination, but I was really bored the whole time (and horrified at all the hairstyles). This dark and moody period that Lady Gaga is going through is really starting to bum me out — especially when it seems to clash with the seemingly bright and upbeat sound of her music.
I love you, Gaga, but I find myself getting tired of your metaphors and subtexts that border on obvious and forced. Let’s get back to making fantastic pop music and stop worrying about cramming as many metaphors as you can into an eight-minute video.
P.S. Does anyone else think this would have made a better video for “Dance in the Dark”? It’s dark… And there’s dancing…
Of course Lady Gaga has a Christmas song. And of course it is by far the dirtiest Xmas song you’ve ever heard (at least I hope it is).
It’s completely unnecessary, which is also why it’s so amazingly fantastic. Because while many people think of Christmas as a romantic holiday, there are others out there like Lady Gaga who interpret that romantic atmosphere as a sexy, get-nasty-with-our-seasonal-references one.
♥ | 172 playsOK, so I’m like a day late in posting this, but I don’t care because I was planning on posting it yesterday.
Anyway… Madame Gaga has done it again. Since “Poker Face,” every single one of her videos has been amazing. The girl’s weird, and I like that. We never know what we’re gonna get with one of her videos. And lately, her clips have been like mini-movies complete with their own plotlines. That’s something I can definitely get behind.
My favorite parts are the shots of Gaga with the creepy giant-pupiled doll eyes and the last few seconds, when we realize that it was all a dream/delusion in her head. Love it!
