Mariah Carey - “Always Be My Baby”

Ah, the ’90s. If only I weren’t too hopped up on Jolly Ranchers and hormones the whole ten years, I’d be able to remember that wonderful decade a little better.

Good thing I can listen to “Always Be My Baby” and musically transport myself to a time when singers knew how to sing and Mariah still knew how to toe that delicate line between sexy and slutty (hint: it involves belly shirts and tire swings).

Mariah Carey - “H.A.T.E.U.”

Oh, Mariah.

“E=MC2” might have been a waste of our time, but this shit you’re releasing from “Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel” is downright magical. And I’m glad you’re still sexin’ it up hardcore in your videos because I don’t want to watch you sing a sad love song unless your boobs are about to pop out of your 100% wholesome, look-at-me-and-my-broken-heart swimsuit.

Way to show Heidi Montag how a music video on the beach is really done, Mariah. Don’t worry; you still got it, girl.

Foreigner - “I Want to Know What Love Is”

Ah, 1980s power ballads… My favorite. And this is pretty much the song that comes to mind when you think of ’80s-era cheeseball romance, right?

The only thing that could make this better would be a dance cover. Too bad the closest thing we have is a gospel-y remake by Mariah Carey.

Mariah Carey - “Hero”

Remember when Mariah could actually sing? This lovely gem hearkens back to those days and throws in a healthy dose of sappy sentiment and inspiration for good measure.

After all, no bad ’90s pop ballad is complete without the phrase “reach into your soul.” I think Mariah and R. Kelly should get together to do a mash-up/duet of “Hero” and “I Believe I Can Fly.” Genius idea, right?

Thank god people are finally over this song, though, because I’m tired of hearing it. I’ve been tired of hearing it for the past 10 years now. It was definitely overplayed.
